About measuring typing speed in the browser
Typing Speed Test shows a sample paragraph and measures words per minute and accuracy as you type. Scoring stays in this tab. It is a practice widget, not an employment exam and not a keylogger — we do not send keystrokes to a server.
WPM conventions differ (some count five characters as a word). This page uses that five-character convention on characters you typed correctly. Accuracy penalizes mistakes against the sample. Switching away mid-test can pause or confuse timing. This is not a course in touch typing; it is a local measurement against one paragraph.
Pick Typing Test for an untimed run that ends when you finish the sample, or Timed (1 min) / Timed (3 min) if you want a clock. Easy, Medium, and Hard each offer several built-in lessons: short everyday lines, longer prose, or punctuation-heavy samples. Choose a lesson in Test Settings, or press Tab for the next one at the same difficulty. When the site language is Vietnamese, the passages switch to Vietnamese practice text, including tone marks. We do not let you paste a custom paragraph here — that belongs on Word Count.

How to test typing speed
Pick a mode and difficulty
Use Typing Test, a one-minute clock, or a three-minute clock. Easy, Medium, and Hard change the sample. Pick a lesson from the list when you want a different paragraph.
Start and type the sample
Press Start test or begin typing. Paste is blocked so the score matches what you actually type.
Read WPM, accuracy, time, and errors
Treat the numbers as practice, not a certified exam result. A word is five correct characters.
Reset or close the tab
Reset or Tab for another sample, or pick a different lesson. Close the tab to clear the attempt. Word Count is for documents, not WPM.
