Keep the tab visible
This stopwatch counts up in the browser. It is not NTP and not a phone lock-screen widget. Pause holds the display; Reset returns to zero. Closing the tab discards the count.
Why use this stopwatch
Start immediately
One Start control begins counting up. No account and no download.
Pause without losing place
Pause freezes the display so you can resume the same segment.
Stay in the foreground
Browsers throttle hidden tabs. Keep this page open when the seconds matter.
Private by default
Elapsed time never leaves this tab. Copy splits on Stopwatch with Laps instead.
Your data stays private
Elapsed time is kept in this tab. Nothing is uploaded or stored on a server.
About a browser stopwatch
Stopwatch counts up in this tab. Start, pause, and reset stay on the device. It is not a server clock and it is not NTP. Use it for a quick lab timing, a cooking check, or a meeting segment when you do not want a phone app.
Closing the tab or sleeping the laptop can pause or drift depending on the browser timer throttling in background tabs — keep the tab visible for serious timing. Laps are a different page (Stopwatch with Laps). A countdown is Timer. Pomodoro is a 25/5 workflow, not a raw stopwatch.

The URL is /tools/stopwatch. We do not sync across devices and we do not log splits here. If you need a list of laps to copy, open Stopwatch with Laps. If you needed a deadline later today, that is a calendar, not this page. Close the tab to drop the elapsed time.
Lab and kitchen timing is enough. There is no split export on this URL. Keep the tab in the foreground when the seconds matter.

No. Closing the tab discards the count.
No. It is a tab stopwatch, not NTP and not a wearable. Keep the page visible so the browser does not throttle. Open Stopwatch with Laps for a copyable split list. Timer is a countdown. Pomodoro is a 25/5 cadence. Close the tab to drop elapsed time. Nothing is stored on a server.
